Wild Goose Vineyards - Riesling 2023

Wild Goose Vineyards - Riesling 2023

Established in 1983 by Adolf Kruger, the winery got its name when Adolf saw a flock of Canada geese feeding on his newly-acquired property. The flock took flight as he approached, thereby suggesting the name for the business.

First planted Riesling and Gewürztraminer, Wild Goose Vineyards was originally a grape producer for others but became a proper winery in 1990. The winery started producing Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and Maréchal Foch. Over time Wild Goose would establish itself as a premium small producer of VQA wines.

In July of 2021, the Wyse family of Burrowing Owl Vineyards proudly announced their acquisition of the tremendously popular Wild Goose Vineyards & Winery. Burrowing Owl Estate Winery’s knowledge and experience in producing ultra-premium wines provide a solid platform for Wild Goose products to continue delivering excellence for years to come.

Wild Goose has 3 vineyards: Okanagan Falls, where Riesling is grown in the south-facing slope in glacial soils, and Gewürztraminer of unparalleled quality at the bottom, in a section with light clay soils. Oliver Mystic River, The soil here is sandy clay and pea gravel without a stone in sight. The fertile land and proximity to the river are a winning combination for our Mystic River Pinot Blanc and Gewürztraminer varietal wines–both two-time recipients of the Lieutenant Governor Award of Excellence. Sumac Slope Vineyard, their newest addition, purchased in 2018, is comprised of glacial till soil and is located only a short distance from the winery. The site is home to some of our best Pinot Noir vines which produce a very expressive wine that is reflective of the sub-Geographic Indication of Okanagan Falls.
