Meyer Family Vineyards - Old Block Pinot Noir 2022
In traditional French Burgundian style Meyer Family Vineyards focuses on small case lots of varietals best suited and expressive of their unique place of origin with an emphasis on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. With a production of about 8,000 cases, Meyer Family Vineyards strive to produce the finest wines possible.
Meyer Family Vineyards wines are produced from two main vineyards, the 1.62-hectare Old Main Road vineyard on the Naramata Bench, and the 6.9-hectare McLean Creek Road vineyard in Okanagan Falls. They also source grapes from high-quality growers in Kaleden and the East Kelowna area to round out their portfolio of terroir-driven wines.
Meyer wines are hand-harvested and crafted using minimal intervention techniques, under the direction of Chris Carson. His philosophy is to care for the grape on the vine and maintain as much as possible a hands-off approach in the cellar to allow the true expression of the terroir.
From one of the original vineyard plantings at their Okanagan Falls estate McLean Creek Road Vineyard, this was planted in 1994 to an unknown clone on a steep, southern-facing slope. The organically / sustainably farmed fruit was destemmed and cold soaked before a native ferment and transfer to French barrels (33% new) for 11 months, before the wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
