Feudi di San Gregorio - Ros'Aura Rosato 2024
Feudi di San Gregorio are one of the leading producers in Italy’s Campania region. Founded in the mid-1980s, they’ve been protecting and rediscovering key indigenous grapes.
One of the keys to their success is their conviction that Irpinia, their base, is a micro-climate that is quite different from the rest of Campania. Winter is very cold and snowy, unusual for Campania. The soil is heavily volcanic and sandy.
Feudi di San Gregorio has currently 300 hectares under cultivation that are divided into 700 plots, each with different elevations, exposures, and gradients. Their research lab has analyzed the soils in order to determine which grape varieties are best suited to each, and has even identified vines that escaped the phylloxera plague.
Their focus is to work with the native varieties, such as such as Aglianico, Fiano di Avellino, and Greco di Tufo in order to help preserve them and thrive. To this end, the winery has published a visual dictionary, Feudi Studi, with all the information the research lab has compiled on the region.
