Zenato - Sergio Zenato Lugana Riserva 2024
Zenato‘s vineyards cover 95 hectares on the S. Cristina estate in San Benedetto di Lugana, devoted to Trebbiano di Lugana, and on the Costalunga estate in Valpolicella, home of Zenato’s famous Amarone, which is home to the renowned Corvina, Rondinella and Oseleta grape varieties. Finally, in Tuscany on a small 3.8-hectare estate, Zenato‘s personal interpretation of the famous Bolgheri DOC is made from Cabernet and Merlot grape varieties.
The excellent microclimate and the soils south of Lake Garda are perfect for growing grapes, especially the native Trebbiano di Lugana grape variety. Since the mid-seventies other vineyards have belonged to the municipality of Sant’Ambrogio to the family estate. Here the classic local red varieties Corvina and Rondinella grow and thrive. The yields of the vineyards of the Zenato family, which are constantly being improved by oenologists from the University of Milan, fall far short of the permitted quantities in order to optimize grape quality. While the base material for the important and always reliable selections comes from their own vineyards, the wines from the value-oriented lines are usually made from grapes from tried and tested suppliers who are looked after all year round. Only the best fruits are carefully vinified in the cellar using modern technology.
