White Haven - Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

White Haven - Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

Established by Greg and Sue White in 1994, Whitehaven is a small boutique winery located in the world-renowned Marlborough region of New Zealand. Today Whitehaven remains proudly family owned and is headed by Sue who continues the dream she and her late husband Greg shared. In 2020, their daughter Samantha joined the family business, along with her husband Josh Barclay, to follow in Sue and Greg’s footsteps and continue the family vision.

Nestled in the Wairau and Awatere Valleys, Whitehaven grapes bask in warm sunlight and cooling breezes from the New Zealand coast, coaxing bright flavors and crisp acidity from the vines. Whitehaven winemaker Peter Jackson has earned a reputation for crafting distinctive Sauvignon Blanc from this sought-after fruit.

Their approach is to make wines from 100% Marlborough fruit in the classic Marlborough style. With vineyards in all three of Marlborough’s sub-regions, Whitehaven‘s winemakers take advantage of sub-regional diversity and Marlborough’s exceptional terroir, combined with contemporary winemaking and traditional craftsmanship, to create a diverse range of award winning wines headed by their flagship Sauvignon Blanc.

Whitehaven is committed to sustainable principles, with native plantings surrounding the vineyards to provide food and refuge for native fauna, along with inter-row planting to provide a habitat for beneficial insects to control pests. Inputs (pesticides, fertilizers) are minimized, with sheep grazing in the Winter to control weeds and provide natural fertilizer. They are a member of Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand.
