Luccarelli - Negroamaro
Luccarelli wines are a line of the Italian Fantini Group, which distributes its wines from Puglia under this name.
Luccarelli wines are typical of Apulia, the “heel of the Italian boot”. Even though it is only a small part of the country, Puglia offers a variety of landscapes that make winegrowing possible in a variety of ways. It is hot and dry in Puglia, due to its location in the South of Italy, but these extremes are moderated by the cooling of sea air. The soils are mostly clay, limestone, and sandstone.
About 90,000 hectares are planted with wine in Apulia, making the region the largest wine producer in Italy. The winegrowing is dominated by red varieties, which are also typical for the region. Primitivo and Negroamaro are the most important varieties in the region.
The work at Luccarelli is a mix of old and new: they partner with small family farms that have been in the area for generations, to whom Fantini bring world-class consultants to help them grow higher-quality grapes. In addition, Fantini also takes long-term contracts with the families so they can be sure that they will be paid a fair price after the harvest.
When crafting the wines, Fantini employs the most advanced wine making technology available to ensure that the wines reflect the authentic characteristics of the grapes used. Fantini believes that the hard work in the vineyards is pointless if the winery is unable to maintain strict standards when bottling.
