Errazuriz - Aconcagua Alto Carménère 2022

Errazuriz - Aconcagua Alto Carménère 2022

Founded in 1870 by Don Maximiano Errázuriz, Errázuriz is one of Chile’s most storied wine concerns. With a family-run production of over 100 years, in 1983 Eduardo Chadwick, a sixth generation family member, joined Errázuriz with the strong conviction that Chile could be a producer of world class wines, and travelled to Bourdeaux to study oenology with the legendary Emile Peinaud.

In 2004, Errázuriz‘s Don Maximiano was deemed one of the best 10 wines in the world at the Berlin Tasting. This wine continued to earn top place several times in blind tastings organized by Steven Spurrier during the following decade. The legendary Robert Parker has recognized Errázuriz by naming it the best vineyard in Chile in 2017, and by awarding their 2017 Las Pizarras Chardonnay 98 points.

Errázuriz is committed to producing wines responsible. This starts with energy efficient but it quickly moves to the vineyard, where drip irrigation, moisture sensors, and integrated delivery systems ensure the best use of water. Soils are monitored to maintain the needed levels of moisture and vegetation needed to control erosion. Errázuriz practices integrated pest management through the use of natural products and vegetation cover.

Errázuriz has eight vineyards in the Aconcagua Valley of Chile. Its location near the ocean, its wide range of temperatures, its high latitude with its attendant abundance of Summer daylight, and its volcanic soils make it an ideal place to grow grapes and make great wine. All these conditions are reflected in their Aconcagua Alto line with their distinct sense of origin.
