Dominio de Punctum - Pomelado
Dominio de Punctum is a family-owned winery founded by three siblings: Jesús, Ruth and Cristina Fernández. Previously, they worked in a farm owned by their family for years producing organic and biodynamic wines. In 2005, they bought Finca Fabián and established Dominio de Punctum.
The estate is located in Cuenca, in the central part of Spain, in an area where grapes have been grown for centuries. Winemaking in Cuenca originated in Roman times and expanded in the middle ages.
The vineyard sits at an altitude of 800 meters above sea level, which ensures intense aromas, freshness, and deep colours for the wines. Currently, Dominio de Punctum has 150 hectares planted with vines. The soil, clay-based and rich in limestone, is capable of retaining water, essential for the health of the vines in a region with sparse rain.
Dominio de Punctum reaps the benefits of a continental-mediterranean climate, which brings plenty of sunlight hours to our vineyard and ripens the grapes easily. However, during the night the temperature drops and creates a sharp contrast that heightens the aromas and flavours of the wine and also gives the wines much needed acidity.
Dominio de Punctum is an organic/biodynamic/vegan winery. No pesticides are used, no synthetic fertilizers are added to the soil, and no chemicals are introduced in the winery.
