Antech - Blanquette de Limoux Brut

Antech - Blanquette de Limoux Brut

The history of Antech winery dates back to the 19th century when Zelie and Jules started winemaking out of passion. When Edmond married Marguerite, two winemaking families merged and named the winery Antech. In 1965, their sons Roger and Georges took over the business and decided just to produce sparkling wines. Now, Francoise, a member of the family’s sixth generation, carries on the family tradition and has put Antech among the world’s best sparkling wine producers.

The secret to the character of their wines in the combination of Limoux’s defining influences, which form the backbone of the cuvées: freshness from the Pyrenees, depth and roundness from the Mediterranean. The Terra Vitis approach for harvesting keeps the balance between the vines and the natural terroir. It is a benchmark for sustainable viticulture in the country. The main grape varietals that are grown at Antech are Mauzac, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, and Pinot Noir.

Only the best grapes are handpicked, and sparkling wines are made either by the traditional method for cremants or by their ancestral method. In the traditional method, fermentation in vats is followed by fermentation in the bottle. The ancestral method is long and complicated but makes unique wine with low alcohol and a sweet, intense, and fruity taste. Antech is also a part of Vinifilles, a group of women winemakers from Languedoc.
